Moody’s upgrades Coop Pank’s credit rating
13.05.2026
International rating agency Moody’s has upgraded Coop Pank’s long-term deposit rating from Baa2 to Baa1 and changed the bank’s outlook to stable. The upgrade marks an important recognition of the bank’s strengthened financial position and growing reliability.
According to Moody’s, the rating upgrade was driven by the high quality of Coop Pank’s loan portfolio, strong capitalisation and solid profitability.
Paavo Truu, CFO of Coop Pank, said the improved international rating provides customers with additional confidence. “The upgraded credit rating and stable outlook confirm that Coop Pank has become an even more trustworthy financial partner. A stronger rating gives both private and business customers greater confidence to choose Coop Pank and keep their money with a domestic financial institution,” said Truu.
Moody’s is one of the world’s leading credit rating agencies alongside Standard & Poor’s and Fitch. Its assessments influence the confidence of investors, depositors and financial markets in banks and can also affect banks’ funding costs.
Under Moody’s rating scale, Baa1 belongs to the category of strong investment-grade ratings. Compared with the previous Baa2 level, the new rating reflects lower credit risk and stronger confidence in the bank’s financial strength.
Moody’s confirmed the following ratings for Coop Pank:
- long-term deposit rating: Baa1;
- short-term deposit rating: P-2;
- long- and short-term Counterparty Risk Assessments: A3(cr)/P-2(cr);
- long- and short-term Counterparty Risk Ratings: A3/P-2;
- Baseline Credit Assessment (BCA): baa3.
The outlook for all ratings is stable.
